Pipeline Pigging Services

EA Services’ work ethic dictates that no two issues are solved in the same way.
As a result, specific techniques are introduced with each new case. Our unique Pipeline Pigging services allow us to offer customized pipeline cleaning to fit your individual needs.

What is Pipeline pigging?

Pipeline Pigging is the inline pipe cleaning process by which any of a large range of devices known as “pigs” (poly-pigs, Mandrel Pigs, turbo pigs, sphere pigs) is used to remove undesired product from pipes or tubes. These devices have a great range in shape and texture to fit the specific needs of the piping they clean, as well as the undesired substance to be removed from that piping. In addition to pipe cleaning, the pipeline pigging process is designed to include internal pipeline inspection.

How does Pipeline Pigging work?

Pipeline Pigging is broken down into two basic systems, Automated Pigging Systems and Manual Pigging Systems.

Automated Pigging Systems

Based on sanitation needs, Automated Pigging Systems for pipe cleaning are ideal for the pharmaceutical, food and beverage industry. The automated process allows for initial VIPRS pigging during the CIP cycle, followed by the VIPRS pigging to result in the removal of the CIP solution. The automated pigging process allows the system to remain closed throughout the entire inline pipeline pigging cycle, thus eliminating breakdown associated with a normal pipeline cleaning process.

Manual Pigging Systems

Manual Pigging System for inline pipe cleaning is a cost-effective means of maintaining clean processing piping designed for single-direction and bidirectional applications. With the single-direction application, any number of different pipeline pigging instruments are inserted at the launcher, sent through the line and finally removed from the other end of the pipe. Manual Pigging for bidirectional systems is used for piping of various materials and steel tubing, as well as piping with various schedules. In this process, the pipeline pigging device can remain in the pipelines or tubing. The LQC safety closure allows the device to be easily inserted and removed.

The pigging process is unique to your pipeline or tubing needs. One or a combination of the following devices would be used in order to customize our inline pipe cleaning service.

Mandrel Pigs: A solid steal body with optional accessories of cup and disc parts comprised of either polyurethane or rubber, depending on the specific pipe or tube needs.

Poly Pigs: A cylinder-shaped poly-pig is comprised of open cell polyurethane foam of various densities and available with various external coatings.

Turbo Pigs: A one-piece turbo pig for pipe cleaning requiring no assembly. Ideal for bends and curves in piping while still maintaining a superior seal.

Sphere Pigs: Custom-shaped, inflated spheres based on pipe specifications for highest result pipe cleaning. Typical use includes: liquid batch separation, line testing, line maintenance and meter accuracy testing.

Discs, Cups, and Accessories: Cups and discs are specified for individual pipeline configurations, including but not limited to varying wall thickness, tees, valves, long and short radius bends and dual-diameters.

EA Services Inc. will evaluate your specific needs and formulate a customized approach based on the most up-to-date pipeline pigging solutions.
